Burdizzo Castration Forceps
The Burdizzo forcepsare a veterinary instrument for non-bloody castration of large animals without anaesthesia.In this type of castration, the castration forceps are applied over the skin to the animal's spermatic cord and squeezed for at least one minute. This process is performed on both spermatic cords. This results in damage to the testicular artery with consequent atrophy of the testicles and infertility of the animal. Sterility occurs after two to three weeks.

In contrast to castration with elastrator pliers with a rubber ring, animals with a narrow testicle base, such as horses, can also be castrated with Burdizzo forceps. The elastrator method involves placing a ring of rubber around the base of the testicles, which cuts off the blood supply. This rubber ring lingers around the scrotum until it atrophies and falls off due to lack of blood flow.

Castration with castration forceps or Burdizzo forceps as well as with elastrator and rubber ring complies with the method of non-bloody castration of animals.
