Braunovidon Ointment 10%

Braunovidone ointment 10 % from B.Braun Medical AG is used for wound treatment of damaged skin in animals. The cream is used, for example, for superficial wounds, burns or infected and superinfected skin diseases. For example, the PVP-iodine-containing antiseptic in a concentration of 10 % has a proven application in skin diseases such as dermatitis herpetiformis Duhring or ulcus cruris. The active ingredients of the ointment are not only bactericidal, fungicidal and tuberculocidal, but also act against numerous viruses and protozoa.

The frequency of application depends in the indication: in the case of severely inflamed or oozing wounds, the ointment can be applied every four to six hours to achieve the best possible microbiocidal effect. Be careful to completely coat the affected skin areas for successful antiseptic-therapeutic application.

A practical indicator of the effectiveness of povidone-iodine is the brown colouration. This indicates a presence of available iodine. If the colouring subsides, the Braunovidon ointment must be re-dosed. Since the cream containing povidone-iodine only has a local antiseptic effect, the entire affected area should be generously covered.
